Alvarez Research Group

The Alvarez Group applies methods and tools of organic materials chemistry, and electrochemistry to understand nanometer-scale phenomena and invent solutions and technologies for neuroscience, monitoring water quality, and energy storage. Nanotechnology and nanomaterials in general have promised multiple solutions since their first advent. However, roadblocks such as their assembly into materials that make easy their manipulation, and the chemistry at their interface have prevent and delay larger applications in industry. Our research program intends to synthesize, assemble, and explore their chemistry for real applications. Dedicated undergraduate, graduate students and researchers in the Lab are exploring specific research areas that have the potential to contribute human health.
